  • Senso-ji Temple (金龍山浅草寺) is the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo, officially known as 金龍山浅草寺 (Kinryū-zan Sensō-ji).
  • It is dedicated to Kannon, the Bodhisattva of Mercy, and is also known as Asakusa Kannon.The temple’s history dates back to the Asuka period, when two brothers discovered a sacred statue of Kannon while fishing in the nearby Sumida River.
